Community Collaborative Art
The Power of Place, the
Meaning of Home – Tufts University Hillel; 1997.
With the community at Tufts
University Hillel, I facilitated 120 people through a series of
workshops to collaboratively create a 24- by 8-foot quilted wall.
Workshops were held on the various aspects of Sukkot where
participants were educated about the holiday and then expressed
their individual ideas on mixed-media collage on fabric squares that
were laminated to make up the squares of the quilt. Themes included
the meaning of home, the journey towards freedom, protection of the
environment, and the crisis of homelessness. This wall became the
central focus of a temporary outdoor dwelling during the Jewish
Holiday of Sukkot.

University Hillel & the National Hillel Foundation.]
